We developed a "track-and-trace" type of system to monitor Animal history from before birth, up to the meat purchased at retail shops. The solution has been approved and is in use in a number of countries under the GMP brandname.

Client Brief: How can we perform reliable skills audits on many people with the least effort?

Human Capital Development system

We developed the Human Capital Development solution to perform skills and competency audits for larger organisations.

This system resulted in compiling more accurate, more applicable, more cost effective WSPs (Works place skills development programmes) and PDPs (Personal Development Plans) in less than 10% of the time it took previously.

This application is/was used at the South African Police Services (audited 24 000 staff members), Correctional Services (18 000 staff members), South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Transhex, Pikititup and numerous others.

Client brief: Our community would like to keep our area safe. What can we do other than spending many thousands of Rands and many hours patrolling the streets?

Hood watch communication system.

A highly success full community/neighbourhood communication system was created by leveraging on GSM cell phones and web-based technologies.

This solution enables various communities to communicate emergency information, suspicious behaviour, community notices and other information to and between neighbours in a selected geographical area and integrates with the local security companies and the SAPS. The solution cost: Less than R25 000 including all consulting fees.

Client brief: "We have to deliver all election based materials secure with 100% accuracy within the next 4 weeks, but have no idea how to manage the material collections from various suppliers and deliver it to the relvenat voting stations"

Track and trace solution for National elections

We conceptualised, developed and crteated all operational procedures and produced a customised track and trace system for election materiel being distributedsecurely to all voting stations throughout South Africa for the 2004 National Elections.

Time scale available to design, develop, test and implement the solution: 3 weeks. This we successfully completed with 100% tracking rate from our client. A few items went missing before the elections but was traced, found and delivered before the elections started.

Robotic Cleaning Equipment Development

the "Android cleaner"

From a conceptual idea, a fully operational production unit was conceived, designed, developed, tested and commissioned to clean very large (14m long x 3.5 meter diameter vessels with more than 2600  heat exchanging titanium tubes). This solution replaced the previous dangerous practise af manual cleaning.

The machine is controlled by software from a PC via PLC (programmable Logic Controller) to provide an automated system in a "hands free" manner.

The product was nominated for a national top 10 industrial innovation nomination by our customer (2009)

Client brief: "Investigate and recommend where and how we can cut costs...but we also have to increase operational capacity "

Project "Overcoming the perceived paradox"

To address the perceived paradox to cuts costs while increasing capacity, resulted in a project that spanned accross three major Departments (with staff in excess of 80 000). The rigorous application of basic business principles, numerical mathematics, industrial engineering principles and a good dose of creativity led to the reduction of expenses in excess of R1B for the client with a capacity increase of 9.5% throuhout the Departments.

The project ran over a period of 8 months whereafter the lead consultant from Technowledge was seconded by the client to the Department of State Expenditure to transfer knowledge of the framework and methodology used to achieve the results.

Collaborative business idea development platform.

We developed a web-based  innovation management platform for our customer to allow web-based collaboration and development of business ideas.

The solution included the commercialisation thereof and usage by more than 60 000 end users.

Apart from developing the platform, Technowledge also provided the management for starting up this business.

Initial marketing of the system (to acquire more than 60 000 users over a 6 month period) was also performed as part of our responsibilities.
